Trinity's Boat

Trinity was assigned a homework task of building a boat out of recycled materials, not bigger than 30x30x30, and sturdy enough to float and hold as many passengers as possible (model animals) without having to pile them on top of each other.  Todd and Trinity started on the assignment before the instructions were sent home, and had to cut the boat down as it was too big.  It looks good, we'll see how well it does in two weeks!

Lazy Saturday

The weather was really nice on Saturday and we wanted to get out, but we were all a bit tired, so we decided to take the ferry from South Perth and ride on the ferris wheel.  It was a bit pricey, but the views were nice.

Pictures of Quinlan

Quinlan passed his one-year mark. Traditionally he would burn a shirt. I assumed that is exactly what he did after this photo.

Here is Quinlan sporting the scarf that I made him. This is the closest thing we will have to a smile. We all know him to be happy, but apparently smiling for a photo is uncool.

I remember when Quinlan was two and would try to run down a slide or go down a slide on his back, head first (that is a true story). I worried then. But this is much more troubling.

More Bathroom Pictures

Kyle continues to work on the bathroom. As you can see, the countertop is in and most of the wanescotting is in.

We ordered the faucets and lighting on line. They have both been shipped.

Gray Scarf

I finished my gray scarf last night. I knitted it with gray, fingering weight, Peruvian wool. The yarn is suitable for socks, but I like it for this scart. I like how drapy it is and the color is great. I found the stitch pattern in a pattern book.

Bathroom Cabinet

Kyle continues to work on the bathroom for Mom. Here is the cabinet for the bathroom. The counter top will be a white, speckled, plastic surface (something like Corian). The mirror was salvaged from BYU (a dance studio, I think). Kyle built a frame for it and we hung it horizontally over the cabinet. There is a tiny shelf on the mirror frame. We wanted the cabinet to look like a piece of furniture and the mirror to be art on the wall. The bead board is made of vinyl, so that will be great behind the sink cabinet and around the tub.

Brave Rider

We recently took some boys to 6 Flags. I thought I would show them how brave I was and ride the roller coaster. They were afraid, but I assured them there was nothing to be afraid of. Yeah, you could see it didn't bother me in the least.

It worked, Yahoo
Love the pictures, all of them, and the movie of "The House".

I have a cold, came home from work early. I am glad I got it when I was working instead of playing.

I went to a Trunk Show last Tuesday. Linda McGehee, she makes purses. Very interesting and pretty. I bought the pattern. I can't wait to try it. Of course, the purse will cost a little more than $15, Roni Jo, I have already paid $25 for the pattern :)

Todd, I'm going out for Sushi tomorrow for lunch, I will think of you.

It looks like you guys are all having a good time there. A working vacation. Like going to the Arizona for the winter.

Love you all.

Quinlan email (edited)

Hey Mom,

I am still in Texas, as you probably know. I am not currently wearing socks. I don't know if I am comfortable with you putting these [emails] on line for the world to see; these are very personal ha ha. Anyway as you know I got a new comp [companion] and we are not getting along. President told me in my last interview that he could see that I could get along with anyone. Right when he said that I knew I was going to get a difficult comp. But oh well, only 5 more weeks with him. I went on exchanges last night with a member who has a Subaru wrx sti and we raced a Mustang gt 500 and just stomped it, it was so cool.

Snow Day

I took this picture from my dining room window this morning at 8:00. It snowed about 6 inches at our house. It took Evan 10 minutes to dig my car out from under the snow (I am sure glad he is home to do that!)

I took this picture this afternoon from my office window. It really is a beautiful day. But it is no day at the beach!!

News from Quinlan

Here is what Quinlan wrote in his last email (I added spelling and punctuation for your reading pleasure):

Hey Mom,

Things are going ok in old Lumber Town. I have a stalker so I might be getting transferred. Hopefully I will be.

Oh and thanks for the shirts and almonds and cranberries hahaha. Caitlin sent me some colored pencils and a sketch book and some yo-yos. It was way nice.

The addition looks really good. Oh and Elder Chad Nelson and Elder Robbie Madson will be stopping by maybe next week. They are my really good friends so they may stop by sometime, so let them in and talk to them, maybe feed them if you can. They are really good guys so anyway. I love you and will talk to you soon.

Love your son, Quin
Trinity's answer
My favorite thing about living in Australia is that it is sunny and hot so I get to go swimming a lot.  Since I don't have a lot of toys here, I make a lot of things with paper- I just made a paper house for my friend's guinea pig, and I also made a necklace for the guinea pig.  I really like my friend Elise.  And I like wearing a school uniform and having swimming lessons during school.  I like playing chess on the computer and would play all day if Mommy let me.
Tim's answers:
For fun, I like to go to Adventure World- it has water slides and a skull head.  I like to go to school, go swimming, go shopping, and watch movies like Chicken Little, Cars, and Star Wars.  I also like to go to the bakery and eat donuts.

I’m in…

But, like a dog chasing a car, what do I do now.

It is easy to become an author of the blog. Roni will put in your email address, then you will receive an email with a link. Follow the link to set-up a user name and password (if you have one just sign in).

Then you are done. The link will take you to a page that allows you to Post, Edit, whatever.

The kids had summing lessons last night, so we got home late and didn’t have time to post answers. We will probably have more time tonight.

Welcome to Our Family Blog

Hello! Welcome to our family blog. This is a place where we can keep in touch with each other, tell our stories, post our good things, and celebrate each other.

I've posted a picture of Evan and me. We took this photo when we were learning how to use our new webcam. It seems like our heads are so big that they barely fit in the frame of the picture. I like my webcam. Sometimes I forget to carry it back and forth from my office and my house. So, sometimes my webcam is in my office when I need it at home and sometimes it is at home when I need it at my office.

I'm going to ask some questions. People can make a post to answer the questions. Or you could just make a post.

Here is my question for Trinity: What are your favorite things about living in Australia?

Here is my question for Timmy: What things do you do for fun in Australia?
